Even after the terrible Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction, the dinosaurs hadn't had their final word. 40 million years later, they returned to the American continent, in the form of "terror birds": gigantic birds, 2.40 meters tall, incapable of flying but equipped with a powerful beak. Phorusrhacos was part of the predatory megafauna of South America during the Miocene.
